Youth groups praised

The overall record of 2 Corby groups who target anti-social behaviour and alcohol related crime has been praised by the Home Office.

Government minister Alan Campbell MP on Thursday met workers with Corby Jam and West Glebe Park to see how there efforts could possibly be learned from across the country.

The Jam Team was set up through Groundwork North Northants and the Police to work with local youngsters after concerns about levels of crime through young people being on the streets.

They came up with initatives to give young people an option from anti social behaviour and help them learn about the dangers of alcohol misuse.

Meanwhile the team behind West Glebe Park have redevloped it for sports and recreation to help keep youngsters occupied.

Overall crime figures among the young in Corby have gone down according to figures recently released by the county's Police Authority.
