Boating Lake news

Barry Scholes reports:

It appears from general feed back that The Lake is fishing better than it ever has done in its history.

Over the 5 years that I have been involved , there have been rumours that in its hayday 100lbs. plus match bags have been commonplace. However at the weekend I was informed by the regular anglers that there has only been one example of this weight recorded , with the 2nd place being well below 50lbs.

Anyway we have recently had two  match weights of over 70lbs & others of over 60lbs. with large carp being lost.

Certainly a number of carp anglers have had over 100lbs in a days fishing.

So watch this space for reports of winning match weights in excess of 100lbs.

I would like to thank The Environment Agency , particularly Andy Beal , Corby Borough Council , the supporting anglers & yourselves for over the last 3 years helping to create what must be one of the premier in-town fisheries in the country.

Stevenage game now July 28

7:45pm kick off....with work continuing on the Steelmen's new stadium due for completion later this year.

Steelmen fixtures out

Today ( July 1 ) the fixtures for the upcoming Blue Square North season have been released.

The campaign for Corby Town begins on Saturday August 14 when Harrogate Town visit in a repeat of last season's opening league game, which the Steelmen won 3-0.

A further five league games follow in August, with one of these for Corby the visit of Hinckley United on August Holiday Monday. This is bound to be an interesting match as Corby signed no less than six players from the Leicestershire side in close season.

The Steelmen will be away and home to newly promoted Nuneaton over the Christmas holiday and should be playing home games in their new stadium at this point.

Mallinger: Prices needed to go up

Corby Town chairman Peter Mallinger has defended the club's new admission prices.

Getting into a league game at Corby next season will be ten pounds, while
season tickets for adults will cost up to 190 pounds.

The new prices had attracted criticism from some fans, but Mallinger has said in
a statement on the club's website said that the club needed the right funds
in order to maintain a squad that could challenge for promotion.

Meanwhile the pre-season friendly with Stevenage has been moved to Monday July 12, kick-off at 7:45 at Rockingham Triangle.
