Representations will be made to the Local Government Association after the loss of the housing grant worth one point one million. Last night the One Corby Policy Committee accepted plans to use savings and cost-cutting to try and meet the  difference.

However plans to immediately to cut funding from various organisations including voluntary bodies in town have been put on hold for the time being.

Some of the savings include 400,000 from the council's reserves, along with 100,000 from not filling posts that are made vacant at the council; 100,000 from increased revenue at facilities such as the East Midlands Pool and 200,000 in procurement.

from what Corby Council spends after losing some Government funding.

The loss of a housing grant potentially worth 1.1 million pounds
has left the Council needing to cut its own spending in  other areas
- this include stopping many grants of there own to voluntary organisations.

Other measures that have already been put forward include using almost
400,000 pounds of savings, 100,000 pounds through not filling jobs
that become vacant, and cutting up to 15 per cent what the council
gives to organistations in Corby.

from the grant or cut services.
